This Best Choice Products Umbrella base, made of resin (not steel) with a steel holding tube, has a charming, basketweave pattern and rustic bronze finish everyone will like. However, since it is not heavy (26 pounds), we recommend it with no more than 7.5 ft umbrellas used through the table. Never use it alone as it doesn’t have enough weight to stabilize your market patio umbrellas. If you live in places that don’t have much wind, it may stabilize a 7.5 ft umbrella through a table.

What we liked

  • The classy, basket weave pattern decorative and rustic bronze finish makes this stand very attractive, and it will compliment your other outdoor décor.
  • Its material of construction (resin and steel pole) will last long. It is UV treated to ensure it doesn’t fade, and it is weather resistant.
  • Can hold umbrella poles of different diameters, ranging from 1-5-1.75 inches.
  • Easy to store. Just remove the tube and keep it.

Downside

  • The recessed part of the decorative basketweave pattern collects water.
  • Your umbrella will spin when tilted, and there is a breeze.
  • Wrongly named. This BCP umbrella stand isn’t made of steel but resin.

What users are saying

“Easy assemble looks great. The only caveat is that this weighs better suited for a 7ft umbrella if it’s to be used free-standing. In a patio table, it would be fine with a 9-foot umbrella. My umbrella is 9ft & free-standing, and the base rocked slightly in 10mph wind. This was on a level concrete patio. I topped the base with 2 10lb pavers & it’s now perfect. I’m sure it will be secure in a higher wind when the umbrella is closed.” Amazon.com

“This is a beautiful umbrella stand for the price. It’s very sturdy and classy looking. I ordered on a Tuesday evening, and it was at my door by Thursday afternoon. Do yourself a favor and purchase this stand for your patio!! You will not be sorry!!!”  Walmart.com

“I looked all over to find this. It’s perfect. It came with different sized holders. One fits perfectly. It holds the umbrella tightly. I’m very pleased.” Best Choice Products

“Seems very well built. However, I wish it were a bit heavier, as my umbrella was blown over by the wind. For the price, it was worth purchasing, but now I keep the umbrella tipped over until I use it.” Walmart.com

“I am disappointed that the umbrella’s insert is plastic as the description said “steel” and nothing about plastic parts. Not as sturdy as I had expected.” Best Choice Products

“The tube rotates freely on the base, by design. If you have a simple vertical umbrella, that’s fine. However, if you have an umbrella that tilts, and you want it orientated to block the sun, there is no way to prevent the umbrella from rotating in the breeze and moving out of position. You can tighten the nut that holds it in the tube all you want; that doesn’t help when the tube itself turns.”

Our verdict

It is undeniable that this base is very appealing. It is well rated, price, and much loved. However, since it is not heavy enough to hold larger umbrellas, only buy it if you have a small umbrella. If you happen to live the design, the Giantex 30lbs Patio Market Umbrella Base, Heavy Duty Outdoor Stand, is a look-alike but a little heavier.
